Abstract:  Embarking on a six-year exploration (2016-2022), this research paper probes the relationship between official recognition by DPIIT and financial backing in the Indian startup realm. Leveraging data from the Press Information Bureau (PIB) and the official Startup India website and Inc42’s ‘The State of Indian Startup Ecosystem reports’, the study aims to uncover the correlation between DPIIT-recognized startups and funding amounts raised by Indian Startups in billion dollars. As we navigate this temporal span, we immerse ourselves in the narrative of the Indian startup ecosystem, focusing on crucial years that define its trajectory.

Findings reveal trends in startup recognition and funding, offering insights into the symbiotic relationship between recognized startups and financial inflow. The correlation analysis, anchored by the Pearson correlation coefficient, provides a quantitative understanding of the strength and direction of this relationship.

Acknowledging the inherent limitations, this research serves as an invitation for further exploration into the intricate connections between startup recognition and financial sustenance. It acts as a beacon, illuminating corners of understanding for stakeholders, policymakers, and researchers navigating the multifaceted landscape of the Indian startup ecosystem.
